Synergy

Sunday, 18th December, 2005 was quite a full day. Started with mass at 9. Got delayed coz I couldn't get ready in time as usual. Followed by the Welcome to FEP in the office at 11 am. FEP is Faculty Enablement Program. It's a part of Campus Connect. Faculty members of colleges connected to Infosys through Campus Connect are invited to Infosys premises. They are trained on the very same courses which Infy conducts for its fresher trainees. I didn't stay for the yummy lunch though. Went back home. Crashed out for about an hour. Woke up and set off to the beach. Didn't know what was in store there but just prayed I reach there in one piece, have fun, hope that my parents arrive with Joel there when it was light and I reach back home in one piece again.

Reached the beach close to 3.15 pm. Was greeted with the news that my team (RED BULLS) had got the second place for triathlon. Next was Lagori and 3 more events. From then on, it was just cheering and encouraging and yelling and screaming and sweating and moulding and all in all, HAVING A BALL.

Got engrossed with the Sand Castle event and had to leave before I could see my team win the finals. Had a fun time creating a helmet. We'd created a collage in the sand that depicted our team motto of 'Not just sports. It's life'. Halfway through this event, Dad and mom arrived with Joel. Gosh! was I glad to see him. He was dressed in a red t-shirt and blue suit. He looked so cute. All who knew him knew that he was dressed in red to support my team

Took him around the beach, got him introduced to plenty of colleagues. Some wanted to carry him, charmed by his smile. Didn't succeed as Usha did. She did a smart thing of just taking him and showing him the ocean. She got him to forget his mom for a while. Am not too sure whether I liked the feeling I felt at that moment. It was a cross between jealousy and pride and love and sadness and joy and I don't know what else. Anyways, I couldn't stay away from Joel any longer. Took him from Usha and handed him back to Mom and Dad. It wasn't much of a fun time for both of them. All day they'd been baby sitting this bundle of energy and now too they had to do the same. I wish Amrith was around. He could have helped them have a real good time and relax. He was stuck in Hubli for the weekend.

By 6, Dad and mom left back with Joel. I stayed back to watch the volleyball match and the tug-of-war events. Danced a little to the music. By 8.45 pm left the place to be back home tasting like the sea, jeans filled with sand, aching and anxious to be with Joel again. A hot water bath got me feeling squeeky clean again and back to my normal self. Nursed Joel, had dinner and then lights off.
