One step up, One step down, This is the way to London Town

Today is 21st December, 2005. Last evening, reached home by 7.30. Was very happy about that since I was able to do a lot more at home than just bathe, eat, nurse and sleep. Remembered that in the morning, Joel had zooming around the place with 2 Johnson Baby cream tubes, one in each hand. It was much easier to skid with his hands in front of him than go 'pit-pat-pit-pat' all over the place, slapping palms against the ground. This way only his knees had to do the work and he had to keep himself upright.

Oh yeah! I got to watch Joel climbing up the steps like it was something he did everyday. He climbed about 8 steps. That's when I decided he can do some more climbing when he had learned to walk properly than crawl. Dad's called the carpenter to get a door fixed against the stair case.

Synergy

Sunday, 18th December, 2005 was quite a full day. Started with mass at 9. Got delayed coz I couldn't get ready in time as usual. Followed by the Welcome to FEP in the office at 11 am. FEP is Faculty Enablement Program. It's a part of Campus Connect. Faculty members of colleges connected to Infosys through Campus Connect are invited to Infosys premises. They are trained on the very same courses which Infy conducts for its fresher trainees. I didn't stay for the yummy lunch though. Went back home. Crashed out for about an hour. Woke up and set off to the beach. Didn't know what was in store there but just prayed I reach there in one piece, have fun, hope that my parents arrive with Joel there when it was light and I reach back home in one piece again.

Reached the beach close to 3.15 pm. Was greeted with the news that my team (RED BULLS) had got the second place for triathlon. Next was Lagori and 3 more events. From then on, it was just cheering and encouraging and yelling and screaming and sweating and moulding and all in all, HAVING A BALL.

Got engrossed with the Sand Castle event and had to leave before I could see my team win the finals. Had a fun time creating a helmet. We'd created a collage in the sand that depicted our team motto of 'Not just sports. It's life'. Halfway through this event, Dad and mom arrived with Joel. Gosh! was I glad to see him. He was dressed in a red t-shirt and blue suit. He looked so cute. All who knew him knew that he was dressed in red to support my team

Took him around the beach, got him introduced to plenty of colleagues. Some wanted to carry him, charmed by his smile. Didn't succeed as Usha did. She did a smart thing of just taking him and showing him the ocean. She got him to forget his mom for a while. Am not too sure whether I liked the feeling I felt at that moment. It was a cross between jealousy and pride and love and sadness and joy and I don't know what else. Anyways, I couldn't stay away from Joel any longer. Took him from Usha and handed him back to Mom and Dad. It wasn't much of a fun time for both of them. All day they'd been baby sitting this bundle of energy and now too they had to do the same. I wish Amrith was around. He could have helped them have a real good time and relax. He was stuck in Hubli for the weekend.

By 6, Dad and mom left back with Joel. I stayed back to watch the volleyball match and the tug-of-war events. Danced a little to the music. By 8.45 pm left the place to be back home tasting like the sea, jeans filled with sand, aching and anxious to be with Joel again. A hot water bath got me feeling squeeky clean again and back to my normal self. Nursed Joel, had dinner and then lights off.

In the middle of a tiring day

I've just about had enuff of editing slides in a document. Break time it is for me!

Punkut has been doing quite a few things from the last time I blogged.
  • He's got his fingers jammed once
  • Fallen backwards and banged his head twice when he was sitting
  • Banged his head against the sitting room's table's corner once on the same day he fell backward once
  • Learnt to stick his tongue out. He does it quite often to Nanna.
  • Says 'Hheyyahh!' quite often in between only the baby sounds he makes
  • Has been to Urwa's Pompei feast for the first time and 'chakkarred' the entire place twice
  • Caught a glimpse of Santa Claus when he went to visit the neighbours
  • Pooped in his nappies so often that I've lost count
  • Pooped in a manner that it falls out of his nappy
  • Gets a grip on the sofa's and tables and chairs and starts walking around the place
  • Is able to travel from the sitting room to the kitchen during the evenings/nights even if the lights are off in the connecting dining room. Major guts for this one I must say! He hates the dark
  • Overturned his potty this morning and was happy about it too
  • Prefer his Abba more than his mom. Discovered this one evening when both Abba and I were lazing around in the sitting room and watching TV. Abba had to carry the guy, play with him, get slapped and hit and punched and keep sticking out his tongue
  • Gets jealous every time Ajay and Akash (the tenant lady's sons) have his toys in their hands
  • Looks so cute every time he wakes up from his sleep and gives this lovely toothless grin
  • Knows to stick a finger in his mouth every time I try to make him pose for my cell cam
  • Knows Scooby the dog so well that every time he goes out and anyone calls Scooby, he looks down and around for the dog. Scooby gets his own special smile from Joel
  • Has got a crate full of toys that he loves throwing around the house

This is only so much I can remember. There goes the fire alarm. Time for the evacuation drill. Time to also stop blogging and get back to work.
