Trip to Mysore

Amrith, Joel and I had been to Mysore on 15th and 16th September, 2006. The trip happened since I had to go to Infosys, Mysore on official work - check out the library facility.

The Infy Mysore campus is awesome. The weather there at this time of the year is pleasant too. Even at 12 noon, one doesn't feel the heat. But yeah! if you aren't used to it, you definitely can get tanned. Plenty of breeze - low humidity levels - no sweat. Just plenty of dust layers.

Major things about this trip:
- KSRTC Volvo buses: Comfortable if you don't have a son who hates the closed insides of a bus
- Grand Maurya: the new hotel at Mysore currently. Lovely food. Room service sucks.
- Planet X: Spend about 3 hours there if you don't have anything else to do for an evening with family
- Infosys - Mysore Campus: Awesome!

The KSRTC Volvo bus journey to Mysore was uneventful. Joel thankfully fell asleep looking the lights outside. No complaints on that front at all.

Reached the bus stop at 5.30 in the morning. Was way too sleepy. The cab (good ol' Ambi) was ready in the parking lot. So just hopped in and zoomed off to Grand Maurya. Somewhere in this entire trip so far, Joel disliked closed vehicles and closed spaces. So getting into the car and staying in there was a slight problem. Reached the hotel to find the gates locked. I did wonder whether Biligiri had informed those folks of our arrival or had we reached the wrong place.

The watchman appeared and opened up the gates. The place was dead. Even the chap in-charge (if he could be called that) was fast asleep. I don't blame him. I guess his boss never told him to expect guests that early in the morning.

He just rolled up his bed, picked up our bags and took us to our rooms. This part had a major benefit :)

Once inside, Amrith went about 'nesting'. I just stayed on the bed with Joel. Ordered for some tea & breakfast, freshened up in the meanwhile and tried catching a snooze.

This is as much as I can type at present. I hope to continue this story when I can.

Happy Birthday Mother Mary

Had fun taking Joel for the flower sessions almostevery evening and on the feast day. He didn't like it the first 2days. From the third, he realised he was getting an outing and takingflowers was a small price. By the end, he used to light up with a hugesmile when all the flowers were in the air and he'd go 'udai' (throw).
