Over the coming weekend, Joel's going to have his first haircut. Right now, his locks are soft, silky, long and curly. A little longer and there'd be a fountain of hair on his li'l head.
Since last evening, he's been trying out a variation to one of his routine exercises. He lies down on his stomach and pushes himself upwards, supporting himself on his hands and feet. Then he tries to bring one knee down on the floor, angling his foot inwards. I think he's trying to sit. Got a scare when he toppled over and almost banged his head.
As I write this down, I remembered a few more things I wanted him to read:
June 15th, 2005: Joel turned onto his side on his own for the first time
June 29th, 2005: Joel turned onto his stomach. Lots of sound accompanying the turn. He did cry a bit. I think it was becoz his arm might have ached. But once he was on his stomach, he loved being there. He turned once on the 29th. Twice on the 30th. 4 times on 1st July. After that, it was pointless to keep count.
September 8th, 2005: Joel turned onto his back. He's been a regular since. Now he rolls all over the place. Last evening he's rolled over to the sitting room table and tried pulling the magazines off.
Besides these dates and times, there's been so many more things he's done. I always want to be around when he does a few things for the first time. Do get worried that he'd begin to walk and run when I'm at work. There's so many things I want to absorb and keep alive in my memories of him. But he makes it almost impossible. He makes certain that we revolve around him.
He's the best motivation one can have to finish all tasks at work and rush home. Staying at home with him is a lot more attractive than going out to party. Oh yeah! Lazy mom is abt 2 seconds faster on her toes now. :-))
The names he's got now besides Joel: jumpy bumpy, poomnkut, boggu, pilu, chukkutta, guggucha, baabutta, babuch, bumputtu, bondulo, baba, munna
Times of Rocking on hands & legs are all the punctuated with 'gonki-gonki', 'del-del' and 'immadi timmadi lokoli'.
What say Joel..? Would you remember to sing these tunes? Would you remember the love, laughter? Would you remember the quiet moments? Would you remember the colors and faces? Would you remember all these times?

Joel - My Firstborn
Not sure if a blog can be used to record dates and facts.. but I'm going to attempt to capture a few things here. Almost all are related to my son Joel. This is with the hope that one fine day, when I've grown old to remember those itsy-bitsy details which he wants to hear about, he can log in here and read all about it. Oh yeah! sure hope that Yahoo! too is still free and a lot of other things are in place for Joel. So here goes:
Birth Name: Joel Amrit
Born: 28th February, 2005 9.08 pm (IST)
Birth weight: 3.7 kgs
First time I felt his touch: Somewhere in between the anesthesia dose after the c-section surgery. Hubby dear told me that I was abusing the clinic's operation staff and my parents when i came out of the theatre. Till date I've got no clear memory of that.. What I do remember is that they were trying keep the oxygen mask on my face. And that was making my throat go dry. Didn't like the feeling at all. (Don't want anyone to go thru' that experience at all)
My First thought on seeing him: He looks like my dad
My First observation of him: He's got a lot of hair. Followed by he looks cute. I think he looks more like me than Amrith.
The hospital stay of 10 days was horrible. Not due to the service but more for the fear that someone would take Joel away from me. I really thought I'd be delivering a cute li'l baby girl. Joel was a BIG surprise. He's brought a smile to everyone's face from the moment he was born. He still does to the day of this posting.
Don't remember in detail each day of the first month. The milestones I've tried to keep in mind. Will post all of what I do remember later
